I’ve been traveling a LOT for work lately and haven’t been able to write a post (which will likely be a post in itself about boundaries and stuff, but I digress). This challenge popped into my head last night as I was waiting to fly home from the Chicago O’Hare airport.
Can we share a little love and be grateful for popcorn?
Some time in the last 20 years I was introduced to Nuts on Clark as well as Garrett’s pop corn…I wish I could remember the first time I tasted a buttery cheesy caramelly popcorn morsel. If you’ve ever flown out of Midway you are aware of the fragrance that permeates the food court whenever they are popping up a batch.
I love popcorn – plain, buttered, kettle corn, microwave – yes please! Jiffy Pop, Orville, Garrett’s, Nuts on Clark (and yes I mix the two up regularly – and I believe there is a passionate rivalry between the two) – give me a large tub and don’t judge! Popcorn makes me happy. I am sure it stems partially from nostalgia and thinking back about going to the theatre to sit in the dark, munching on buttered popcorn in the cold air-conditioning (a relief from the no AC house I grew up in) and getting swept away to a world of fantasy. And it stems from butter (or whatever is being dumped in that passes for butter).
Grab yourself a bucket and enjoy!
