There have been MANY times in my life where I’ve needed and prayed for guidance. I love the bible verse that was part of this card that is published by explore christianity. I found this as I wandered around in London…and was at a crossroads in my life, again. What was I doing? Where was I going? Is this what life is supposed to be?
The bible verse:
“Give me your lantern and compass, give me a map.”
Psalm 43.3
This past summer for our patriotic concert, I was part of an ensemble that performed a song based partially on the poem “The New Colossus” from Emma Lazarus. This poem is found on the statue of liberty. Below is an excerpt from it
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Emma Lazarus (The New Colussus)
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Can you see where God is lifting a lamp for you? He is guiding you to where you should be!
The prayer:
Dear God,
I don’t know what to do. I can’t see the path ahead. If you are the light, please show me. Help me to think clearly, see new possibilities, and wait patiently for what is right for me. Then please give me the strength and courage to take the next step.
