If you haven’t experienced a proper Sunday Roast, I highly recommend it! We ate Sunday Roast at Hawskmoor in London. I was googling them to write up my London posts and discovered they had a NYC location. I promptly made reservations for noon. The hotel room coffee proved to be lame, so I am in need of a caffeine jolt. Mia’s bakery is located just outside the hotel, so I ran downstairs (bundled up, because it is another COLD day) and grabbed a latte and a scone to keep me pleasant to be around.

We had a fabulous roast at the restaurant. Ruth and I concluded that the caesar salad was better in London, but roast meat was better in NYC. I barely remember eating dessert, but clearly I photographed it. Atmosphere/Ambience was lovely at either. Only harsh reality hit was that Iced Tea is charged by the glass. I assumed it was free re-fills. Oops.

One of our travel mates had to run back to the hotel…and this is where we failed as a group. Instead of sending her on her merry way. We all piled into an Uber and rode with her back to the hotel. Bear in mind the restaurant was closer to the theater than the hotel…but no matter. We dropped her at the hotel and then turned around to go back to the theater. The initial plan was to swing by Central Park before the show. Traffic was atrocious today. The uncleared roadways were causing all sorts of consternation. We ran out of town and had to go straight to the theater.

The show was playing at New World Stages, which apparently can host 5 shows at once. I had never seen The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed the show except for one instance where the actress, in a clearly ad-libbed moment, went on an anti-Trump rant. I wasn’t in the mood at all and did my best to not let it ruin the experience, but clearly it still sticks in my head. I don’t want to have a conversation about politics with anyone. period…much less be lectured by an actress.

After the show we had our uber driver take the long way back to the hotel so we could do a drive-by of Central Park (still too cold to romp about), then it was back to our hotel.

After such a large meal at Hawksmoor, we didn’t need a big meal, so we opted for a light snack at the hotel’s cafe. The service was the most amazingly slow service I’ve ever experienced. A turtle would have been faster. At one point we debated going behind the counter to help him because he was struggling so.

The fun begins tomorrow when we hit the Javits center for the dog show. No luggage delivery, but hopefully it will arrive tomorrow!
