My dear sweet Mavis has had a tough start to 2025. We are now mid-May and I don’t think either of us have slept through the night for more than a couple of days in a row. Last night she was up from 1 – 2ish. The night before she was awake from 12 – 1am. But the day before she slept through the night (when this happens I am VERY grateful – will save that for another gratitude challenge). When Mavis is awake, I’m awake. These disruptions are causing a bit of tiredness for me…which leads to today’s gratitude challenge – caffeine.
I am so grateful for the existence of caffeine to perk me up in the morning. What a wonderful gift from God! It doesn’t matter to me which beverage I choose to ingest – whether it is coffee, tea, hot chocolae, Diet Coke, Coke (no Pepsi), latte, mocha, etc.. About the only way I don’t like caffeine is in pill form or via Red Bull. I tried no-doz once my freshman year in college – it made me jittery but didn’t keep me awake.
Right now I’m sipping on an Iced Coffee and waiting for bleary eyes to clear. Enjoy your caffeinated beverage and think about its positive impact on your life and the others who perhaps are not operating with a full night of sleep.
Here’s a link to an AMA article to inspire you (and some pictures of coffee and tea).
