Happy Wednesday and what a beautiful Spring day here!

Today the gratitude challenge is for tulips…or any bulb-based flower.

I feel like planting bulbs shows my hope and faith (and trust) in the future. I’m sure you know the proverb around trees -‘A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.’ Consider tulips and planting of bulbs as a shorter term expression of society- perhaps a society shows it trusts Winter won’t last? It is very easy to get caught up in the Winter doldrums with the cold gray rain/snow. That’s why it is so important for me to remember (and be grateful) for the little bits of happiness that I’ve planted that are percolating underground.

I did find some cute rhymes via GenAI that I’ll share with you:

Plant the tulip bulbs in fall, and watch for spring’s bright call

A tulip’s promise, winter’s sleep, spring’s beauty, secrets keep.

Tulips are a reminder that even the most ordinary things can be extraordinary with a little bit of color.

Like tulips in the springtime, may we too rise from the darkness and bloom into something beautiful.

According to UrbanStems, Tulips are ‘symbolic of happiness, love, joy, good luck, and well wishes.’

I’m grateful that these bulbs delivered. Tulips make me so happy! These pictures were taken just a few days apart and you can see how they have bloomed!
