Tuesday is election day. If you haven’t done so yet, please vote. Regardless of your political affiliation or opinion of the presidential choices, I do hope you will pause for a moment to pray this prayer. While squabbles occur in any family, we achieve so much more when we are united. We are blessed to live in a country that allows for independent thought and freedom of speech. Canceling others or throwing tantrums is not a mature way for us to grow and thrive and is certainly not any way for this country to move forward.

Dear Lord

Help me to see the traits that we share and embrace the differences. Help to me understand another’s point of view, even if I disagree with him/her. Help us both to see the common ground we stand on. And if there is disagreement with the results of the election, guide us to peace and non-violent discussions. Help others to see Your majesty and the life that can be attained only through a relationship with you, your Son and the Holy Spirit. Let everything I do be done in your Honor. They will be done.

Amen.

As inspiration, I’ve included the words to God Bless America, written by Kate Smith.

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home

And pictures from some of my travels around the USA. See if you can guess where I was!
