As I walked out the door of my gym, I saw 4 Canadian Geese hanging out in the parking lot. The image made me smile. Canadian Geese migrating South means Fall is on its way. They are beautiful birds with a distinctive honk that can be heard as they fly in their V-formation. Did you know there are 7 recognized sub-species of Canadian Geese? See what happens when you go down the Internet rabbit hole!
Today let us all be grateful for these birds! They eat bugs and fertilize our lawns. They apparently are quite good at seed dispersal. I’m reminded of a time when I lived in Louisiana where they blocked the main road, sauntering across without a care in the world. Nobody honked their horns at them. We just waited for them. It was a lovely moment of peace between nature and mankind.
If they’re there tomorrow (they may already be on their way to Florida), I’ll take a picture. For now, you’ll have to enjoy this stock image.
Not the same geese that I mentioned above…these geese are trying to find a parking place at McAlister’s so they can grab a quick bite as they migrate South.
