I love sunny summer days! I’m sure you’ve put on a pair of sunglasses at least once. Let’s pause for a moment to be thankful that they were created. (I love writing up these challenges, because they give me a wonderful excuse to go down rabbit holes, googling and clicking links! I’m sure I’ve thrown off the algorithm tied to me with my random searches!)

According to Warby Parker, in 1752, English optician James Ayscough invented special tinted eyeglasses that also had tinted side pieces. But hold your horses! Further searching shows that ancient China around the 1200s may have created something. Documents have been found which make a reference to “Ai Tai” which translates to “dark clouds covering the sun”.

I’m grateful for sunglasses, regardless of their inventor.

They are incredibly helpful when you leave the eye doctor with dilated pupils! From a vanity standpoint, they make you look cool and reduce wrinkles. And from a health standpoint, they prevent damage to your eyes when you feel like staring at the sun.

So slide on your Ray-bans or Foster Grants or Warby Parkers and take a moment to be thankful!
