April 25 is the perfect date – those of you will know this from Miss Congeniality and hopefully are laughing.
Still it got me to thinking – what would you be your perfect date?
I’ll provide two examples…
When I was married, the perfect date would be any date that provided some level of forethought and planning. Chris (my ex) never ever planned any dates or vacations. For me, planning allows for a building up expectations that can be just as fun as the actual event. Planning says to me ‘I know what you like to do and I’m going to make that a priority (so no hard rock concerts).’ There is a cheesy love song called ‘One Hundred Ways’ written by Quincy Jones and sung by James Ingram which beautifully captures what love is about…and make no mistake the perfect date is an expression of love.
Compliment what she does
Send her roses just because
If it’s violins she loves
Let them playDedicate her favorite song
And hold her closer all night long
Love her today
Find one hundred ways
Fast forward to single life…and not that anyone has asked me for a date…but I would say the perfect date would be one that involves laughter and opportunities for conversation, bonus points if it involves both parties learning something new (that might put on too much pressure). I’d love to go to a local theater production or to an art festival. The romantic in me would love a bouquet of flowers…or a single carnation. Any action that says ‘I was thinking of you.’
And – nice weather: not too hot or too cold
