I saw the post (pasted below) from hertrueworth on Instagram and saved immediately. I just happened to call RUMC’s Daily Devotional, and guess what – the devotional was about releasing yourself from anxiety. That, my friends, is called a Godwink!

Godwink – n. An event or personal experience, often identified as coincidence, so astonishing that it is seen as a sign of divine intervention, especially when perceived as the answer to a prayer.

So I figure God wants me to write this post!

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter, Chapter 5, verse 7

It’s so easy to get agitated with all the noise of earthly problems, isn’t it? If you watch or read the news, the lead stories are always about conflict and what is wrong with the world. The above scripture (and the ones noted below) are gentle reminders that these problems existed back in Jesus’ time and likely will always exist….and that the solution for you (and me) is to put our trust in God. He is here for us.

I know it is hard to calm a racing mind, especially after too many cups of coffee. In the past, I found focusing on a peaceful image (a lake at sunrise, a babbling brook) quiets my mind. But..rather than visualization, deep breathing and meditation, why not try prayer and supplication? One solution puts you in charge, the other puts God in charge.

Here’s prayer for peace of mind from Xavier University to inspire you:

Loving God, please grant me peace of mind and calm my troubled heart. My soul is like a turbulent sea. I can’t seem to find my balance so I stumble and worry constantly. Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you’ve laid out for me.

Amen to that!
