Hooray for the dishwasher – the unsung hero of the kitchen.
As a PANK (Professional Aunt No Kids), I probably run it once a week or so. My sister runs hers at least once a day, if not more, but her house is FULL.
How much do you pre-wash in the sink before you load? I do a decent amount of pre-washing. I’m trying to do less, as I think it might be better for the environment if I let the dishwasher do more.
Anyway, I love that dishes go in dirty and come out super clean (and piping hot!).
There are two annoyances around dishwasher 1) how to load and 2) who unloads.
For the first, I didn’t realize this, but my sister came behind me and reloaded the dishwasher after me. Apparently I wasn’t doing it the ‘right way’. I can say this because I had to educate my then-husband on loading after nearly slicing my finger on a knife that was pointed up, not down.
The second is easy in my house, as it is always me…but can be a major point of contention between my teenage niece and nephew as nobody wants that chore.
For a moment, let’s give a shout out to this plate cleaner, pot sterilizer, glass sparkler. If you really want to challenge yourself, try handwashing EVERYTHING for one day. You’ll have new appreciation for your dishwasher, I promise.
Not surprising…I don’t have a picture of a dishwasher. I do have a very funny picture of a co-worker unloading the office dishwasher that we posted to remind others that they can also unload the dishwasher (see annoyance above).
Here’s my favorite dishwasher – Bosch
