‘Who needs the moon when we’ve got the stars?’ This is a misquote from the movie Now Voyager. But I love it. Plus it was in a cheesy 80s song from the band ABC. I’ve already got a HUGE grin on my face listening to the song while I type this. And I’m SO grateful for that!
Anyway, it is a lovely sentiment (well except that Bette Davis is throwing her life a way for an unavailable married man). The sentiment is (according to Google AI) ‘it means accepting and appreciating what one has rather than striving for an unobtainable ideal or a grand, perfect scenario, especially when one has already found genuine happiness and fulfillment in a more modest way. ‘
And hey…isn’t that what all these gratitude challenges are about???
So tonight, take a walk or step out on your balcony and look up at the night sky. All those stars and planets are there, whether you acknowledge their beauty and amazingness or not. I choose to salute them and appreciate them.
If you’re feeling really rambunctious, get a star named after you!
Stars don’t photograph well with my iPhone, so I’ll share this picture of a ‘star’ in the ‘sky’, which is really Christmas lights in Germany
