And just like that <snap> the trip is almost over! We took a fast ICE train to Munich and turfed our bags at the hotel and…met up with Magi! Years ago Magi came to the US as an au pair and found her way to our church. I was absolutely overjoyed to see here! She’s as beautiful and kind as ever. The 5 musketeers walked around Munich – visiting the the Viktualienmarkt (great soup place there) and hung around the Marienplatz. We were worn down from travels but enjoyed this final day in Germany. Especially entertaining were the surfers at Eisbachwelle.
The day ended with an amazing cup of hot chocolate from Mikah cafe and dinner at Altes Hackerhaus. The waitstaff were hilarious at this restaurant which made up for grumpy girl yesterday. Our hotel (hotel Platzl) is gorgeous. Sadly we had to get up early to take the train to the airport.
The airport is confusing – our gate was C32 but apparently we needed to check in at B…which makes no sense to anyone. Luckily we were there early enough to stumble through that. Passport control was having issues – I’m pretty sure some folks missed their flights.
The plane ride home was uneventful in uncomfortable Delta comfort. God bless my sister for picking me up from church and getting me home (and she cleaned up my house and put some Christmas decor out). I have so many wonderful memories from this trip – but I’m still too tired to think straight! I may add to these entries as I flip through pictures…but for now, this will do. That’s my last trip of the year and it was an amazing one!
