Have you ever struggled with the green-eyed monster? I admit that I have battled feelings of envy recently. I am pretty sure it was the perfect storm of LinkedIn posts announcing some promotions and Christmas cards displaying perfect families. That little green-eyed devil whispers in my ear and blackens my heart. I truly am happy for my friends, once I get past the ‘why not me?’ whining.
When I feel that little twinge of jealousy, I redirect my brain to see all my blessings (remember the donut). I’ll write a list or say out loud all the many wonderful people and things in my life.
For those of you have similar struggles, take heart! Here’s a prayer to redirect you.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for my life and for the many blessings that you have poured into it. Sometimes I forget all that you have given me and can only see what I don’t have. I pray that you gently remind me of these blessings and help me to be content with what I have. Help me to be satisfied in you alone.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
