Many people, including myself, are plagued with a negative body image of themselves. I have a friend (Michelle) who is ridiculously fit, always exercising, probably 0% body fat. But if I asked her, she would tell me she is fat and completely rip on herself. I wish I could change her body dysmorphia. I wish she could see how beautiful she is. Perhaps she’ll read this post and recognize herself. Perhaps you’re reading this and recognize yourself too.
The gratitude challenge today is to articulate what you like about your body. You can start small (a specific body part) or big(your entire body, your presence, your height). I’m grateful for my ears so I can hear.
Remember that while no body is perfect, we are perfect in God’s eyes. Accept that and love every aspect of your physical being – your laugh lines, your freckles, your feet (oof – that is a stretch – feet are pretty ugly…but they get you around so I’m grateful for them!). Every scar tells a story (and tells of survival). Everything about you is beautiful.
