Sunday was our choir director/associate minister’s last Sunday with Roswell UMC. Michael Cromwell was part of my and my church’s life for 5 years. He is a gifted choir director, conductor and minister – a triple threat! Michael made the easy/difficult to decision to return to his old church. The decision was easy in the sense that he was choosing to prioritize his family. So really it wasn’t difficult..well I think it was difficult because we all loved him and he loved us. We were producing great music and sharing God’s love through song. When you love someone or something, it is hard to let them go, even when you know it is for the best.

So today’s challenge is ‘can you be grateful for goodbyes?’

When I write in my gratitude journal, it tends to be short choppy sentences aimed at the action of gratitude. Passion for gratitude does not necessarily equate to eloquence. My advice to you is follow a similar path. Don’t delay because you’re searching for the perfect phrase – just get the words out there – write them/shout them/sing them. Whatever it takes to hit the reset button on your brain.

In respect to Michael’s departure: I am grateful for his sense of humor. I’m grateful for his musical direction. I am grateful that our paths crossed. I’m happy he chose to put his family first.

This is Michael’s last sermon at Roswell and it is beautiful! And I’m grateful for that!!!

Thank you Michael
